Well at least Guild Wars started to support DirectX 9 sometime ago so that might tell something that they may add new particle effects maybe or some new shading. But I haven't heard any certain details.

And for 2nd question yes there is a tutorial area. Some kind of monastery and it's surroundings. You start from there if you do a new character for Factions campaign.

Did you play the FPE at the end of March? If so, you should know how well your computer will be able to run Factions. That event should be a good indication of the final release as far as the tech goes.

Developers ususally improve their game by adding new code and imporve the look of the game.
This will lead to higher computer reqs.
I'm sure ch2 will have the same req as ch1 or it might be increased a bit but you will still be able to play it.

I found out that GW depends a lot on the RAM you have installed on your PC.
I have 2 PCs and one of them had the motherboard die on it a month ago and I got a new motherboard.
One of the RAM sticks did not work on the new motherboard so I kept only one of them so the RAM went down from 1 Gig to 512 Meg. I notice a huge difference of loading time. It takes way longer for maps and towns to load.

The dev as implemented directx 9.0 in the factions version (you could see the difference in the FPE, with AA etc...) The graphics where improved pretty much (which is a technical nice feat to do with a game that is already out...)

They also stated clearly that although the graphics where improved ppl that run only with 8.1 compatable systems would be able to play the game. They couldnt garantee this for the coming future in further releases, that depends on the developments on graphical techniques.
